Mohan Khare has an advertising background and his first love has always been painting. His work reflects spontaneity, simplicity, accuracy of perspective and drawing, an effective use of colour, and the ability to work in multimedia. Mohan has established himself as ‘Marine Artist’ and has exhibited his works extensively. Mohan Khare’s fascination for the sea and all things related to it, especially lighthouses, led him to undertake five expeditions over the last few years to visit all the lighthouses, covering some 40,000 kilometres of mainland and many thousand nautical miles around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Poonam Sharma specializes in Relief Paintings - an artwork combining sculpture and painting. Hansa Jessani is a Mumbai based fine hand visual artist born and brought up in the very Cosmopolitan - Cultural city of Mumbai. Neha Poddar is a self-taught artist. She is a senior HR leader and Psychologist by education from University of Delhi. Her rendezvous with paints and canvases is about a decade old. She has participated in several group shows. Her “conversation” with her artwork is painstaking and elaborate. Her engagement continues until the time the medium starts to “respond”! in form of rich, intricate textures, patterns and depth, these emerge unintended most times. Such an instinct as an artist gives her art depth and sensibility of emotions. She is adept at Abstract artwork painted in acrylic and mix media. Neha also likes to play the flute and compose “nazms”.

Varsha Jain Bhatt is an expressive fine artist from Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai. Her works are inspired by different aspects of life. Her paintings reflects her thoughts and imaginations. In the process of painting, she paints what comes out within her. She uses combination of vibrant colours, bold strokes and composition of various forms and textures to create a visual language. She says "In the journey of paintings, I always experience the energy flow of content and happiness."

Megha Lamba has done her Fine Arts studies from Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore. She specializes in Charcoal and soft pastels. At the age of 15, due to a stroke she lost the use of her dominant right hand and has since, trained her left hand equally well. She loves nature in all its forms and tries to express that love in her art work.

A Computer Engineer, Isha has pursued painting since childhood has a hobby. Anything related to colours or abstracts has always piqued her interest. This fascination brought to life a distinct imagination and need to beautify the norms with alluring details. Her perception towards paintings comes directly from her heart. Her love and passion can be felt in her paintings. Her paintings have a classical touch which alludes grace and elegance.

Born in 1967 in Kolhapur, Milind has been very creative from his school days. An unfortunate accident in the year 2001 in which he lost his left eye severely impacted his successful fabrication business. His reinvention began one day while cleaning his own house he came across with some figures that stood up to his sight. This creative form which has now translated in the making of this Natural Wood Art, starting from Birds to Human figures, landscaped to illusions, the art has transformed in many ways. He has committed himself to create niche recognition for himself.

This is the Fifth Edition of The Art Enclave at INDEX and it is with a fair sense of pride and satisfaction that we bring together again, artists and galleries of different genres to make an exciting display of artworks for you. Five years ago, what prompted us to be an exclusive section of this large Exhibition on Interiors, was our conviction that Fine Art is very much a significant consideration when one plans the interiors of a home, an office or any other institution of commercial or academic activity. With judicious selection of artworks displayed in the right areas, paintings and sculptures can speak volumes, more than what words may convey -- about the family's culture and interests, much as they can convey, with equal effect, the credo and ethos of a company or institution.

Blank walls are cold and indifferent – not warm and inviting. It is true that it is the image that always, instantly and meaningfully engages a visitor even before any human intervention. In a sense, a visual image completely communicates – creating an immediate impression in the mind of the viewer. It therefore, becomes imperative that the choice of the image is right to ensure a desirable impression.

Thousands of years ago, when no form of meaningful oral expression was in existence, art was born to satisfy a deep inner urge to communicate. When the cave man scratched crude forms on the walls of his caves, he was keen to convey something that he couldn't with words. He wanted to create an identity for his dwelling and communicate to others of his clan, his life experiences – stories of the animals he hunted with flying stones and wooden clubs.

In today's world too, visual communication through fine art, follows an inner urge to communicate, whether characteristics, activity, religious leanings or simply, the kind of lifestyle one has chosen. When one beholds a work of art, as Francis Hoyland says, “mind reaches out to mind across great gaps of time and space.” I trust those who visit The Art Enclave will experience something similar.
